Matt Fishwick - drums
Dario di Lecce - double bass
At BopFest Israeli guitarist Ofer Landsberg performs with his new London based quartet, featuring up-and-coming young NYC pianist Alex Bryson, Italian double bassist Dario di Lecce and drummer Matt Fishwick, paying homage to the great Bud Powell and previewing his latest CD, which is soon to be released on the Hard Bop Records label.
Shortly after his arrival in New York, aged only seventeen, jazz guitarist Ofer Landsberg was performing regularly with legendary jazz greats such as pianist Frank Hewitt and drummer Jimmy Lovelace. Distinguishing himself as a striking talent, he frequented gigs at the celebrated clubs Smalls and Fat Cat, where during this time he met his mentor, the renowned bebop pianist and teacher Barry Harris.
Originally hailing from Israel, he cites Charlie Parker, Art Tatum and Bud Powell as his primary influences and continues to devote himself to their artistry, emerging with his own unique voice in the music. Other European tours have included performances at the “B Flat Jazz Club” in Berlin, “Vogler Jazz Bar” in Munich and “Jazz Club d'Annecy” in France with US drummer Alvin Queen.
